A secluded “one-of-a-kind’’ Hamptons-style estate has set a new benchmark for residential property sales in the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area.
Sunshine Coast News can confirm Buderim’s Malumba Estate has sold to a Brisbane family, who soon will be moving to the Coast to enjoy the best it has to offer.
The successful agent, prestige property specialist Melissa Schembri (pictured) of Next Property Group, said it had been listed at $21 million, but out of respect for both buyer and seller the sale price would not be disclosed.
“We can confirm it is the highest residential sale in the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area (LGA),’’ she said.
Only the Noosa property market, which includes red-hot Sunshine Beach, has attracted higher sale prices across the broader region, with one at $22m and another reportedly hitting $34m.
Malumba is set on 10 lush acres at 24 Box Street, Buderim. It is perched 180m above sea level and offers ocean views to the shipping lanes and Moreton Island, as well as taking in the majestic Glass House Mountains.
The private, tranquil and spacious property features a breathtaking 1,240sqm homestead with all the trimmings.
It includes four luxurious suites with spa-style bathrooms, a four-person office, music room with baby grand piano, multiple living areas, American oak parquetry floors, sweeping timber decks and an exact replica of Martha Stewart’s own kitchen.

Nearby is a resort-standard heated pool, yoga studio, gym and four-car garage. There’s also a helicopter pad.
“The buyers have secured what I believe is the finest home in the region. It’s definitely one of a kind,’’ Ms Schembri said.
Outgoing owners Heidi Meyer and Kim Carroll had planned to establish a five-star eco-resort, called Badderam, on the site and were successful in gaining Sunshine Coast Council approval for 111 hotel suites, restaurants, conference facilities, a wellness spa and a rail car to access cabins down the escarpment.
It will be up to the new owners whether this project is advanced.
Malumba Estate sits in the absolute centre of the Sunshine Coast, being four minutes from the new Maroochydore CBD, three minutes to the University of the Sunshine Coast, four minutes to Mooloolaba Beach and an hour to Brisbane.
